I subscribe to Henri Matisse?s belief that art should be like an easy chair ? a feast for the eyes and a rest for the soul.
I experienced my first creative thrill at the age of 7, when I covered my mother?s bathroom in ink scribbles. From there, I went on to the School of Art and Design in Uherske Hradiste, Czechoslovakia, where I studied painting. After graduating, I continued my studies at the University of F. Palacky in Olomouc, where I concentrated in Art and Czech literature - all under the watchful eyes of the Czech communistic regime. After graduation, I headed West, spending my professional life as an art director at various New York City ad agencies. A few years ago, I started to paint again on Sunday mornings - and rekindled my love for the art form. My subject matter includes kids, pets, and people in general. When I need more freedom of expression, I rely on the inspiration of flowers and nature.
