Irene Schlesinger

Novato, Ca

Creating stories and celebrating the connections between color, texture, and mediums is what I do.
My primary focus is creating on canvas combining embroidery with acrylic mediums.
I also paint, quilt, mosaic, and create outdoor installations.

Born in Los Angeles, raised on the San Francisco peninsula and now, living in the North Bay.
Studied Fine Arts at local colleges- CCAC and SFSU. Learned stitching from my grandmother when I was 5 years old and never stopped. In 2020, my book "Artful Embroidery on Canvas" was published by C&T Publications. My book provides information and tutorials on my process of mixing stitching with a variety of mediums.
I also paint, make mosaics, and currently creating an outdoor installation of crystal curtains.
I have exhibited and sold art around the USA and throughout San Francisco Bay Area including Oakland, San Jose, and Palo Alto.
