Hannah Hoch and the Art of Collage Workshop

Hannah Hoch and the Art of Collage Workshop

Saturday, July 23: Noon-4pm

Instructor: Lauren Volk

Fantastical or serious, personal or political, the artof collage is a popular art technique accessible to beginner and professional alike.

Hannah Hoch was a female Dada artist renowned for her collage art innovations. Her work was highly original, political, and intellectual, skillfully merging feminist ideas with the overall Dadaist aesthetic.

Students will be given a foundation in the elements and principles of design (color, composition, perspective, etc.) They will also learn about the Dadaist art movement and its place in the social structure of the time.

This is a hands-on workshop where students will be busy creating their own journals of collage art pieces.

Lauren received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. She has taught at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena; Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles; Palo Alto Art Center; and Vita Art Center, Ventura.
