Tai Chi at MarinMOCA
Seven Friday mornings, Sept. 2 - Oct. 28 (no class Sept. 16 or Sept. 23); 10-11am
Instructor: Gloria Matuszewski
This is an ongoing beginning class though new students are always welcome. Space is limited to 6-9 students due to the location. Warm-ups begin each class and the tai chi principles will be emphasized as we learn the Short Form as developed by H. H. Lui.
Tai chi is an ancient form of exercise, first created in China, and designed to improve and rebuild one’s body, mind and spirit. Basically a form of dance, tai chi is “meditation in motion.” Increasingly embraced by the western world, the benefits of tai chi, particularly for seniors, has been well documented and supported byhealthcare practitioners and the medical community. Practiced routinely, tai chi will improve your balance, strength and flexibility.
Wear loose, comfortable clothes and soft-soled shoes if possible. Hats and layers are suggested as class is outside. Gloria has practiced tai chi for 30 years and has taught tai chi for many years at MarinMOCA and at the San Anselmo Recreation Center, Piedmont Adult School, and through the Oakland Adult Education programs.
All must sign a release waiver with Gloria or in the office before participating.
