Mixed Media Alternative Sketchbooks for Adults

Mixed Media Alternative Sketchbooks for Adults

Eight Thursdays, Sept. 29 Nov. 17; 2-5pm

Instructor: Lauren Volk

An alternative sketchbook can be a place to record your dreams and your wildest ideas as well as a medium to develop your own style or a way to learn about yourself and the world around you.

Mixed Media Alternative Sketchbooks is an 8-week adult art course for beginners and experienced artists alike. The weekly class is inspired by the concept of creative play and of using a meditative process to embolden you, the artist, to step out of your own head and try new approaches to art and learn new techniques.

In this 3-hour per session 8-week course students will learn a variety of art techniques commonly used by mixed media artists. You will draw, paint, collage, and print. Along the way you will also explore the elements and principles of design (shape, line, color, etc.)

Join us and immerse yourself in the flow of creativity. There are no limits to what you can create.

Lauren received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. She has taught at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena; Otis College of Art                  and Design, Los Angeles; Palo Alto Art Center; and Vita Art Center, Ventura.
