This is a course based on the teaching method developed by Dr. Betty Edwards and made popular by her book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.” This course is for middle school to high school students and is designed specifically for students at a beginner level. During this course, students develop the perceptual skills necessary for realistic drawing by learning about contour line drawing, positive/negative space, perspective and proportion, light and shadow, and seeing and drawing the whole.
This 8-week course combines lectures and studio exercises in a supportive environment. It is an eight-week course in which students move from drawing symbolically to drawing what they see.
Lauren received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. She has taught at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena; Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles; Palo Alto Art Center; and Vita Art Center, Ventura.
