Drawing NOW!

Saturday and Sunday, May 27 & 28; 11am - 4pm

Instructor: Janet Bogardus

Drawing, the oldest art medium, is being re-invented and featured in exhibitions around the world. This two-part workshop is inspired by the current excitement surrounding drawing. We will experiment with wet and dry mediums, and contemporary as well as traditional surfaces to create dynamic compositions.

All skill levels are welcome. You do not need to be skilled at accurate representation in drawing. There will be simple guidance about composition and mark-making, as well as demonstrations of different techniques, but the emphasis is on cutting loose and finding new ways to create pictures, abstract or representational.

Day 1: Saturday, May 27, 11am-4pm

Powerpoint presentation showing the work of a few contemporary artists renowned for their drawings, followed by wet-medium drawings on paper, mylar, and yupo paper using found objects to be developed further on the following day.

Day 2: Sunday, May 28, 11am-4pm

Participants will create drawings inspired by current drawing practices.
