Alternative Sketchbooks for Teens

Alternative Sketchbooks for Teens

Eight Thursdays, September 28 - November 16; 4-6pm

Instructor: Lauren Volk

Whether you consider yourself a serious art student or a person who just likes to doodle, a personal sketchbook can be many different things. An artist’s sketchbook can be a place to record your personal thoughts and artistic ideas. It can be a medium through which you start to develop your own style and voice. Or it can be a fun and exciting way to learn about yourself and the world around you.

In this course you will use your sketchbook to experiment with different elements of design like shape, line, or color, or with different media like drawing, painting, or collage. It’s all about exploring and recording and expressing yourself and discovering who you are and what your style is.

Instructor: Lauren received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. She has taught at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena; Otis College of Art and Design, LosAngeles; Palo Alto Art Center; and Vita Art Center, Ventura.

Fee: MarinMOCA members at the Family Level and above $250; Non-members $285

Plus $35 materials fee paid directly to instructor on first day of class

Where: Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, 781 Hamilton Parkway, Novato (building behind Beso Café)
