Exploring Art Through the Eyes of an Artist

Six Tuesdays: January 23 - February 27; 3:30 - 5pm

Instructor: Lauren Volk

This 6-week course for kids (ages 6-12) is a fun, hands-on approach to learning about art. We will meet once a week for an hour and a half after school and learn about a new artist every week. Through videos, slideshows, and weekly projects, students will learn about a wide range of unique artists, their art, and their contribution to the history of art. Students will be encouraged to explore their own creativity in a positive and supportive community.

In “Exploring Art Through the Eyes of Artists,” students learn the basics of drawing and painting and have the chance to experiment with a variety of art techniques. Multiple separate art projects give students the chance to try everything from creating clay sculptures to painting minimalist landscapes to putting together a photo montage.

By building on their current skill level through hands-on practice, students will learn about color, shape, texture, space, value, line, composition, and perspective.
