Making a Mixed-Media Book Meaningful to You

Two Saturdays, November 5 & 12; 1 - 4:30pm

Instructor: Lisa Zimmerman


Designed for both new and experienced artists, this two-session class will enable you to create a mixed-media accordion book rich in both meaning and artistic expression.

During this class you will:

  • Explore inspiring examples of artist books
  • Create the physical structure for your book
  • Do creative exercises to find and develop your topic or theme
  • Learn how to integrate visual storytelling, interactivity and elements of surprise
  • Integrate materials to bring your book to life

A wide range of mixed-media materials and supplies will be provided. You will also be encouraged to bring images, text and/or ephemera to Session 2.                    

Lisa has been making mixed-media artist books for five years. She teaches both new and experienced book artists following several years as an instructor at Cedars Fine Art Studios in San Anselmo.

When:  Two Saturdays, November 5 & 12 (class is two sessions)   1 – 4:30pm                 

Fee:     $130 members; $155 non-members; plus $20 materials fee paid to instructor         

Where:  Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, 781 Hamilton Parkway, Novato (behind Beso Café)

Cancellation Policy: Fees are due at time of registration. You may cancel up to one (1) week prior to start of class/workshop and the fee, less $25 for processing, will be refunded to you. Should MarinMOCA cancel a class/workshop, you will receive a full refund.

Should you cancel less than one (1) week prior to a class or workshop begins, you will not receive a refund of any portion of your registration fee. There are no refunds for individual classes that are missed within a monthly series.
