MarinMOCA offers a multitude of exciting opportunities for artists.
MarinMOCA Artist In Residence Program
In partnership with the City of Novato, the MarinMOCA residency aims to provide a talented and committed visual artist with a stipend and free studio space at the Novato Art Center surrounded by 50 other artists as well as MarinMOCA’s galleries, museum store and classroom. This exciting new program will give a deserving artist the opportunity to concentrate on making their art while giving the community opportunities to connect and learn from his/her art practice and knowledge.
MarinMOCA values its members as a vital community of artists who support and sustain the museum and the creative endeavors of its members. We offer members several opportunities to exhibit their artwork; in the main galleries and five different satellite venues. Of the two main gallery exhibitions, one of them is juried for awards and one is juried for entry into the exhibition and awards.
Altered Book/Book Arts Exhibit
Join 150 other Bay Area artists in donating book art to help support the exhibitions and programs of MarinMOCA. Book arts can involve intricate paper folding, the use of heavy machinery and saws, the conceptual exploration of authorship and reading, or all of the above! The book arts community is a group of innovative, creative and supportive artists, so this is the perfect time to give book arts a try.
National Exhibitions- Summer and Fall
MarinMOCA offers 2 National Exhibitions each year, in the summer and fall. These exhibitions display most forms of media and the entries are juried by respected scholars, curators and gallery owners. This show includes artwork from around the nation and is impressive every year.
Calls for Emerging Artists of the Bay Area - Juried
Emerging Artist of the Bay Area features three to six artists who are the principal creator of new work, show significant potential yet are under-recognized and who have some evidence of professional achievement but not a substantial record of accomplishments. We welcome the opportunity to support works that embody diverse cultural perspectives from the Bay Area.
Available for rent through MarinMOCA and the City of Novato. This is a great opportunity to be in community with other artists and enjoy the historical & peaceful surroundings.
