5-day workshop for students 6 -11 (Monday through Friday)
This workshop for kids is designed to be both fun and hands-on. Through this course, students have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of art, make new friends, and create in a positive and supportive community.
In “Exploring Modern Art for Kids,” students learn the basics of drawing and painting and have the chance to experiment with a variety of art techniques. By building on their current skill level through hands-on practice, students will learn about color, shape, texture, space, value, line, composition, and perspective.
Projects to be completed:
- Project 1: Impressionist painting: Artist, Vincent Van Gogh
- Project 2: Pointillist painting: Artist, George Seurat
- Project 3: Expressionist painting: Artists, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee
- Project 4: Cubist paper collage: Artists, Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse
- Project 5: Dadaist collage: Artist, Hannah Hoch
Instructor: Lauren received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. She has taught at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena; Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles; Palo Alto Art Center; and Vita Art Center, Ventura.
Fee: $275; Plus $30 materials fee (paid directly to instructor)
Where: Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, 781 Hamilton Parkway, Novato (building behind Beso Café)

Cancellation Policy: Fees are due at time of registration. You may cancel up to one (1) week prior to start of class/workshop and the fee, less $25 for processing, will be refunded to you. Should MarinMOCA cancel a class/workshop, you will receive a full refund.
Should you cancel less than one (1) week prior to a class or workshop begins, you will not receive a refund of any portion of your registration fee. There are no refunds for individual classes that are missed within a monthly series.
