Figurative Drawing for Teens (ages 13 - 17)

Eight Thursdays, March 7 - May 2 (no class on April 11); 4:30 - 6:30pm

Instructor: Lauren Szabo

Through demonstrations, studio practice, and one-on-one tutoring, students will investigate techniques for drawing the human figure within traditional and contemporary approaches. With these goals in mind, students will create a series of works based in portraiture and live figure drawing from a clothed model.

Formal issues will include the use of anatomical proportions, value, and composition. Lectures, readings, class discussions, and critiques will enhance studio work time. Individual portfolio progress will be emphasized.

Instructor: Lauren Szabo graduated with a BFA in Illustration from California College of the Arts and received an MFA Fellowship from San Francisco Art Institute for graduate study in painting.

Fee: Members $300; Non-members $350

Where: Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, 781 Hamilton Parkway, Novato (building behind Beso Café)
