In recent years, I have actively pursued a deep dive into my spiritual, physical,
and soul’s transformation. Through the process of delving into this intense work, I am discovering a truer, untethered artistic voice full of clarity, joy, and serenity.
I hope to serve as an example to a diverse community of people that, by meeting our suffering and moving through it, we can bring beauty to the world. In these difficult times worldwide, society desperately needs more avenues, like art, as a place for healing, deeper introspection and answers.
It is my wish that, through my work, I may touch another’s soul through my art. I hope to move the audience in such a way that the love I put into my work will ripple out into the world, helping to heal all those it encounters and who they encounter.
I believe that one Being shifted for the positive has a tremendous impact on the total.
As a young child, my great-aunt, who was a Bay Area artist, saw my innate artistry and took me under her wing. She began my training in watercolor and sketching at her small dining room table in her beautifully lit apartment in Marin. Her traditional methodology still rings in my head: “Do not paint what you see. Remember that it is all a blend of multiple aspects coming together at once to create the shapes and colors that you think you see, especially the spaces between.”
On every special occasion, be it my birthday or another important day, I would be gifted one of the art books from her personal collection: Miró, Kandinsky, Chagall, Monet, Degas, etc. I still look through them and feel our connection. I am also very grateful to have inherited all of her art supplies. There is nothing more special than holding one of her palette knives and feeling its handle, worn smooth from years of use, and thinking of the stories it could tell.
I have since expanded to become a multidisciplinary artist. Mediums include (and are not limited to): charcoal, soft and oil pastels, acrylic, ceramics, sculpture, photography, digital arts, graphite, ink and of course, watercolor.
In my youth, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to study art and art history in Florence, Italy.
A few years later, I attended the CCA in Berkeley to continue my studies in charcoal, figure drawing, and acrylics.
I returned to school again at College of Marin where I furthered my study of art and art history while adding multimedia and digital arts. After which, I promptly set forth on a career in website and graphic design.
After many years as an independent contractor, I chose to return to university and study psychology at the Dominican University of California. I played with the idea of pursuing a career in art therapy and added a few art classes to my schedule. Being immersed in the arts again, I was reminded of my soul’s true desire to be a conduit between the imagination and the physical. I have since been solely pursuing my professional art career and enjoying every moment.
