Martha Elizabeth Ture

Inverness, CA

Martha E. Ture in an award-winning, internationally recognized photographer. She was raised in a political family in Washington, D.C. She attended the Corcoran Gallery school and Cornell University in the School of Fine Arts. She studied at the San Francisco Art Institute and at the University of California at Berkeley. She took her Master’s in Public Policy at UC Berkeley and worked as a federal fisheries biologist. She is co-author of two papers on the effects of crude oil on marine food chains. She also worked in the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Public Utilities Commission.

Ms. Ture now finds her best contribution to the world is photography. Her practice is primarily in nature and wildlife photography, with forays into concert photography, altered reality, historic and street photography. She participates in juried shows, and works to improve her skills and practice.

She is founder and sole proprietor, Mt. Tamalpais Photos. She takes continuing education in photography, participates in juried and non-juried shows, and works to continue to improve her skills and practice.

She regularly posts her photos on social media, to provide people a moment of recognition of the real world.

EXPERIENCE
Award-winning, internationally recognized photographer whose photographs have appeared in The Washington Post, Defenders of Wildlife, The Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology, and in The Weathermakers social media. I am founder and sole proprietor, Mt. Tamalpais Photos. I photograph wildlife and nature on and around Mt. Tamalpais, Marin County Open Space District lands, California State Park Lands, Federal lands such as Pt. Reyes National Seashore, and the Pacific Coast areas of the United Nations Golden Gate Biosphere, and now Massachusetts. My professional work includes fisheries biology with the National Marine Fisheries Service. I am co-author, two peer-reviewed papers on effects of crude oil on marine food chains. I have volunteered since 1998 with the National Parks Service in Pt. Reyes National Seashore on endangered coho restoration projects.
