Mark Making on Gel Printing Plates is a fun way to bring unique and personalized designs to your work. Gel plates have a sensitive surface, somewhat of the consistency of very firm Jello. Paint is used to draw on the plate or rolled out with a brayer to cover any portion of the plate. It is designed to capture texture and details without the use of a press and is very similar to mono printing and printmaking. Gel plates are reusable and clean up with just a little water.
Paperclips, rubber bands, happy face beads mounted on wooden blocks, empty paper towel rolls, golf balls, mesh cloth and more will be part of the tools we will use. Stencils will be combined with mark making to produce fabulous designs. Emphasis will also be placed on mixing primary colors for use of secondary colors. Each student will frame their favorite piece at the end of the day.
