Introduction to Encaustic on Paper Workshop

Saturday, October 26; 11am - 4pm

Instructor: Patricia Leeds

This is a one-day introduction to the encaustic monotype process. Encaustic monotypes are fast, fun, and satisfying. They are created on a heated palette using encaustic color sticks, and then transferred to paper.

We will first cover the equipment, the tools, safety, and the variety of materials and papers. We will emphasize:

  • Equipment
  • Variety of papers
  • Color, texture, shape, and line
  • Monotype techniques
  • Color layering
  • Reductive methods/tools
  • Stencils

Each person will gain hands on experience and will come away with finished pieces. We will also talk about the various ways of displaying the work. All materials will be provided and all skill levels are welcome. We will have five students maximum to allow for individual attention.

Instructor: Patricia Leeds has been working with encaustic for 13 years and has shown her work in the Bay Area and nationally. Website: www.patricialeedsart.com

Fee: Members $250 Non-members $295

Maerials fee: An additional $25 materials fee will be paid to the instructor
