Urban Sketching with Fountain Pens

Sunday, July 20; 10am to 12:30pm

Instructor: Eileen P. Goldenberg

Fountain pens are beautiful and versatile tools for artists and offer incredible diversity and the ability to create expressive marks. There are multitudes of styles of pans and thousands of inks to choose from, so they are the perfect tool for sketching on location.

In this workshop you will learn how fountain pens work and will have the chance to experiment with a variety of different pens. You will then walk to a location nearby to sketch. The instructor will demonstrate how to set up a sketch, find the shadows, and add color. This workshop welcomes everyone - no experirence is necessary!

The instructor will provide a sketch kit for each student, which includes:

  • Fountain pen
  • Watercolor palette
  • Small sketchbook
  • Water brush
  • Pencil
  • Binder clip
