Embrace tracing! Learn how to incorporate traced images in your art making process using a variety of techniques includding projection, carbon paper, and light boxes. David Hockney's book and documentary Secret Knowledge is used as a reference for this class.
This workshop is designed to destigmatize tracing as a valid drawing technique. You will transfer a print or electronic image onto paper or canvas using a variety of techniques including carbon paper, projectors or computer screens.
Students are encouraged to bring their own paper or canvas (no bigger than 20" square), colored pencils, pastels, markers, or water-based paint to color in their drawings or paintings.. Students may bring an image of their choice or choose from images provided by the teacher. Students may also opt to bring their own projector or laptop to use as a light box.
