Ellie Fritz, MarinMOCA’s 2019 Artist In Residence, culminates her residency with a solo exhibit opening on November 16 and running through December 22. This exhibition will include a series of large-scale paintings and works on paper. Ellie’s studio process merges painting, drawing and printmaking techniques. Her imagery evolves through her physical interaction with the media and the paper, as she explores making marks, creating embossed impressions on the paper and erasing areas to create space and form.

Ms. Fritz says “There is an element of improvisation in my art-making process. This new body of work will display the narrative of that process.” Ms. Fritz is represented by K. Imperial Fine Arts in San Francisco and has participated in multiple exhibitions around the country. During her residency she taught summer workshops for children, gave art talks to the public, and served as a docent for the museum’s Novato Schools Art Enrichment program.
