SAN RAFAEL, CA
I have always been interested and inspired by human faces and what they evoke in us. I am moved and fascinated by our ability to sense, relate, and somehow know another being through an unspoken language in a portrait.
I work intuitively, striving to translate the delicate beauty of the human form, but more importantly the unseen; the essence that is unique to each person, yet deeply connects us.
My work seeks to explore and celebrate the human condition and our innate ability to find connection in ways that transcend understanding.
Misty Segura-Bowers (American, b. 1973) is a fine artist and portraitist. She studied at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco until she was hired out of school to create art for Hollywood films. It was during her decade of film work, that she found her passion and voice for creating cinematic images that balance tension with beauty and unspoken emotion. The Matrix trilogy, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers movies, are just a few films that feature her work.
Her paintings and drawings are an exploration of the human condition and our innate ability to find connection.
She uses water media and charcoal and considers her work abstract realism.
Misty lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, California with her husband, daughter, step children and two beloved pups.
